Tranby College Unveils Exciting Strategic Plan for 2026-2028
A Bold Vision for Our Future Together
We’re thrilled to share Tranby College’s new Strategic Plan for 2026-2028—a roadmap that celebrates who we are while charting an inspiring course for where we’re heading together.
At the heart of our plan lies a simple yet powerful vision: Together, we learn with curiosity, dream with courage and live with purpose. This isn’t just a statement, it’s a commitment to every student, staff member, and family who calls Tranby home.

Our strategic plan is built around six interconnected spheres that will guide our growth and development:
Courageous Learners – We’re embedding our Courage, Curiosity and Purpose Philosophy across all year levels, ensuring every student develops strong foundations while embracing innovative learning approaches. From enhanced wellbeing programs to exploring new pathways including potential trade training opportunities, we’re preparing students for success in ways that matter.

Tranby – Serving our Community
On Friday, 7 November, Mrs Emily Goforth and I had the privilege of attending the VERA’s – DFES’ Volunteer Employer Recognition Awards. We were honoured to receive a VERA on behalf of the College, after being nominated by our Head of Technologies, Mr Andrew Briggs, in recognition of Tranby’s support of his work as both an employee and an active volunteer bushfire fighter with the Kwinana South Volunteer Bushfire Brigade. Mr Briggs joined us at the start of this year and, within his first few weeks, was already spending his nights fighting fires and his days teaching Woodwork and leading his department. Through his service, and the College’s support of his volunteer commitments, Andrew embodies Service – a value that is close to our hearts as both one of our College Values and as part of our motto, Uniting in Faith and Service.
Service learning is a vital part of who we are as a Tranby community. Our Service Learning Coordinator, Mrs Kat Glenn, supports our students as they engage in meaningful service to others. From running our Tranbeans Café, to cleaning the Baldivis War Memorial wall, to organising gardening and Christmas decorations at MercyCare in Cooloongup, our students are regularly given opportunities to serve with their heads, hearts, and hands.
As we continue to strengthen our culture of service, we are always looking for further opportunities for students and staff to contribute to our wider community. If you have ideas, connections, or would like to get involved, please reach out to Mrs Glenn at the College.

- Year 12 ATAR Exams
Our Year 12 students continue their ATAR examinations until Monday, 18 November. We commend their dedication and wish them every success as they complete this important chapter and for their future beyond Tranby. - Year 11 Exams
Year 11 exams also conclude on 18 November, with students returning on Thursday, 21 November to receive feedback and reflect on their progress. - Year 9 & 10 Exams
Exams for Years 9 and 10 will take place on Tuesday, 19 and Wednesday, 20 November. Students will return on Monday, 24 November for feedback and final lessons.
- Year 10 River Cruise – Tuesday, 26 November
A highlight of the year, our Year 10 students will enjoy a memorable evening cruising the Swan river with friends and staff, celebrating their achievements and growth. - Year 9 Dinner Dance – Wednesday, 27 November at Peel Manor
Our Year 9 cohort will dress to impress for a night of dancing, dining, and reflection at the beautiful Peel Manor. It’s a wonderful way to mark the end of a successful year.

Term 4 Highlights: A Season of Celebration, Creativity and Achievement
As we move into the final stretch of the school year, Term 4 is proving to be one of our busiest and most exciting yet in the Senior School. With exams underway, exhibitions opening, and celebrations planned, this final term will fly by. Below is a snapshot of just a few of the upcoming events!
External ATAR Exams Begin
This week marks the commencement of the external ATAR examinations for our Year 12 students. We wish all our senior students the very best as they undertake this important milestone in their academic journey. Their dedication and resilience throughout the year have been commendable, and we are confident they will approach these exams with focus and determination.
HASS Week: 3–7 November
Next week, we celebrate HASS Week, a time to explore the richness of Humanities and Social Sciences through engaging activities, competitions, and themed lessons. Students will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of history, geography, civics, and economics in fun and interactive ways.
Art Exhibitions: A Celebration of Creativity
Two upcoming art exhibitions to highlight the incredible talent of our students:
· The Year 11 and 12 Art Exhibition will open at the Rockingham Library on 10th November. This showcase features a diverse range of works from our senior students and reflects their artistic growth and personal expression.
· The Year 7–10 Art Exhibition will be held at Tranby starting 24th November. This event celebrates the creativity of our younger students and provides a wonderful insight into their developing skills and imagination.
Exams for Years 9, 10 and 11
As part of our academic calendar, the following exam periods are scheduled:
· Year 11 written exams commence on 10th November.
· Year 9 and 10 exams held on 19th-20th November.
These assessments are an important part of our students’ learning journey and provide valuable feedback on their progress.
End-of-Year Celebrations
To round off the term, we have two exciting social events planned:
· The Year 10 River Cruise will take place on 26th November, offering students a memorable evening of fun and celebration on the water.
· The Year 9 Dinner Dance follows on 27th November, giving students a chance to dress up, dance, and enjoy a well-earned celebration with peers.
Presentation Assembly – 5 December
We will conclude the term with our Presentation Assembly on Friday 5th December, a special occasion to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our students.

2025 International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS)
Last term, selected students from Years 3 to 6 participated in the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS) in the areas of English, Mathematics, and Science.
ICAS is an independent, skill-based assessment that measures students’ understanding and capabilities across a range of subject areas. Students who participate are ranked according to their percentile in each year level across Australia.
Award Categories

· Distinction: Next 10% of students
· Credit: Following 25% of students
· Merit: Next 10% of students
· Participation: All remaining students
Congratulations to all students who were selected to take part in the ICAS competitions this year. A special commendation goes to Ryder Krokosz, who achieved a High Distinction in Science, placing him in the top 1% of all participants across Australia.

The Junior School has been a hive of activity over the past few weeks, with students taking part in a range of exciting learning experiences and events. Next week promises to be just as eventful, with our Year 5 students heading off to camp at Point Peron, our Kindergarten students participating in their very first Athletics Carnival, our Year 1 students visiting Perth Zoo, and our Year 2 students presenting their class assembly. We extend our sincere thanks to all parents and caregivers for their ongoing support -whether volunteering on excursions, helping with costumes, or attending school events. Your continued support and involvement help to create a vibrant, engaging, and rewarding experience for all our Junior School students.
Early Learning Athletics Carnival
In Week 1, we held our Early Learning Athletics Carnival for students in Pre-primary to Year 2. The afternoon was filled with enthusiasm as students participated in a variety of tabloid events, a 50-metre sprint, and house relays. The highlight of the day was the teacher mascot relay, which brought plenty of laughter and cheering from the crowd. A huge thank you to Mrs Scott for her time, effort, and organisation in making this event such a success.
Pre-primary & Year 1 Swimming Lessons
During Weeks 2 and 3, our Pre-primary and Year 1 students attended daily swimming lessons at State Swim in Secret Harbour. Learning to swim is an essential life skill that supports children’s safety, confidence, and overall well-being. These lessons give every child the opportunity to build crucial water safety knowledge and develop their swimming ability in a safe and supportive environment. Our youngest students have shown wonderful behaviour and resilience throughout the program, managing the busy schedule with great maturity.
Year 2 Excursion – Point Peron
On Tuesday, 21 October, our Year 2 students enjoyed an excursion to Point Peron, where they explored the area’s historic features, including the weapon emplacement, bunker, and communication tower. The group then travelled to the Rockingham foreshore to complete a local history quiz and scavenger hunt. Thank you to our parent helpers for volunteering to help on this engaging and educational day.
Kindergarten 2026 Orientation Day
The following day, Wednesday, 22 October, we hosted our Kindergarten 2026 Orientation Day, welcoming our newest students and families to the College community. This is always an exciting milestone, giving children the chance to meet their teachers and peers, and explore their new classroom and playground. We look forward to officially welcoming our new Kindy students next year!
Year 2 Grandparents Day
On Monday, 27 October, our Year 2 students invited their grandparents into their classrooms to share in traditional games, craft activities, and reading time. This special visit aligned with the Year 2 History unit on toys, technology, and family life in the past, while also celebrating the valued role grandparents play in our Tranby community.

Constable Care Incursion
Last Wednesday, our Junior School students were treated to a fun, engaging, and highly educational experience thanks to the Constable Care Foundation. Through a series of age-appropriate puppet shows and interactive performances, students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 explored important topics around safety, wellbeing, and making positive choices.
Each year group participated in a tailored session: First Aid Heroes taught our youngest students basic first aid skills in a fun and accessible way, while Fun Scary helped Years 1 and 2 navigate and explore the differences between safe/ unsafe scary feelings. The Frenemies session prompted thoughtful conversations around bullying, communication and empathy with our Year 3 and 4 students. Meanwhile, our senior primary students explored online safety, cyberbullying and respectful relationships in the compelling performance called Trending.
The sessions were not only informative but also highly entertaining, with students fully engaged and responding enthusiastically throughout. It was wonderful to see students learning valuable life skills through storytelling, humour, and interactive theatre.
We extend our thanks to the Constable Care Foundation for delivering such a meaningful incursion, and we look forward to welcoming them back in the future.
Year 11 & 12 Art Exhibition
On Monday, 10 November, the Senior School Arts department opened the 2025 Year 11 and 12 Art Exhibition at Rockingham Library. The exhibition featured incredibly unique pieces that told a plethora of stories, hinting into the lives of our students and providing an unseen perspective into how they view themselves and the world around them. From sprawling landscapes and carvings to immersive self-portraits, the range and talent of these students is unbelievable. All those that attended the exhibition were in awe of the talent and skill these students displayed, and it was extremely difficult to decide which piece to vote for to go in the running for the People’s Choice Award. This exhibition runs until Monday, 24 November, so you still have a chance to put your vote in.
Crossing over with the success of this exhibition, our Years 7 to 10 Art Exhibition will be opening on 24 November, 5.30pm at Tranby College in the SSAB. This display gives Senior School Art students an opportunity to show off their individual final pieces and will include over 100 items created in and out of class time.
On the same night and again on Wednesday 26 November, our instrumental music program will be hosting a Music Tutor Concert in the College Lounge, upstairs to the SSAB. These concerts will be a demonstration of the effort music students have put into their learning and practice and during the one-one sessions with our highly knowledgeable music tutors. With both these events on, it will be an exciting night, and all students and families are welcome to attend. We hope to see you there!

HASS Week Highlights
Year 5 Camp
Year 5 Camp – Fairbridge Village, Point Peron.
Our Year 5 students recently enjoyed a wonderful camp experience at Fairbridge Village, Point Peron, filled with fun, friendship, and adventure. Over three highly active days, students took part in a wide range of activities that encouraged teamwork and resilience.
The enthusiasm and excellent behaviour of all students is to be commended, and it was fantastic to see everyone supporting one another and giving their best effort. Highlights included archery, orienteering, a scavenger hunt, and the challenges of rock and crate climbing. Students also demonstrated great creativity and teamwork during raft building and the Point Peron Challenge, tested their problem-solving and teamwork skills.
Evenings at camp were just as enjoyable, with plenty of friendly competitiveness during our quiz night and an incredible display of confidence, talent and humour during the final night talent show. It was wonderful to see so many students step outside their comfort zones, try new things and celebrate each other’s efforts.
Throughout the camp, our Year 5 students grew in independence and resilience, showing respect, kindness, and a strong sense of community. The experience created lasting memories and strengthened friendships that will carry into the rest of the school year.
A huge thank you to all staff who supported and guided the students throughout their time —your care and encouragement helped make this camp such a success.

It taught all of us how to work together as a team, especially my favourite activities – crate climbing and raft building. It also helped many people make new friends. I enjoyed the free time because you got to chill out with your friends and play games. I loved breakfast because all the choices and I love food. Overall it was a life changing experience for everyone that went.”

“On the 5th of November we travelled to Point Peron (Fairbridge camp) by bus to start the Year 5 camp!
We did so many fun activities like archery, rock and crate climbing, orienteering and beach activities. They were great fun and we all got to have a go. We also saw so much wildlife like a mini dugite snake and various lizards. Camp was awesome and I would love to do it again.”

Kindy Athletics Carnival
Kindergarten Mini Athletics Carnival
Throughout Weeks 3 and 4, our Kindergarten children took part in a spirited Mini Athletics Carnival to showcase their athleticism. We kicked off the morning with running races, then moved into our House events: sack race, egg and spoon race, bean-bag relay and baton relay. A highlight of the day was the parent relay. The Kindy kids absolutely loved cheering on their parents as they battled it out! We wrapped up the event with a well-deserved icy pole treat and a picnic. A huge thank you to all the families whose support made the morning such a success.
Year 1 Perth Zoo Excursion
Last Friday, our Year One students enjoyed a wonderful excursion to Perth Zoo. The purpose of our visit was to create a shared experience that the students could later recount back in the classroom. By exploring the zoo together as a whole class, the children were able to participate in each step of the day, helping them build a clear understanding of the sequence of events and the language needed to describe their experience.
Throughout the day, we visited many exciting exhibits, observing animals from all around the world and sharing our discoveries as a group. It was lovely to see the children so engaged, asking questions, making connections to what they’ve learned, and enjoying the adventure with their friends.
With only four weeks remaining of the school year, this excursion was also a special opportunity to spend time together as a class. Experiencing the zoo as a group allowed us to discuss each exhibit and reflect as a whole class, supporting both learning and connection.
Back in the classroom, we wrote detailed recounts of our exciting day, capturing all the fun, excitement, and learning from our adventure. Some of us even wrote four to five pages! We used lots of descriptive language to make our writing come to life. You’ll feel like you’re right there with us at the zoo!

Host an Indonesian Student in April 2026 – Share Culture, Make Connections, and Create Lasting Memories
Tranby College is seeking Expressions of Interest from families who would like to host a visiting Indonesian student for one week in April 2026.
This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to open your home to a student from Indonesia, offering them a genuine experience of Australian family life and culture — while learning about theirs in return.
Hosting an international student is a wonderful way to:
Build meaningful cross-cultural connections
Share everyday Australian experiences and traditions
Help visiting students improve their English and understanding of our way of life
Inspire curiosity, compassion, and global citizenship in your own family
