Teaching at Tranby

At Tranby we know that the quality of our teachers is what makes the biggest difference for our students and their learning outcomes.

We are looking for teachers who:

  • have appropriate qualifications
  • are eager to learn by working with others to continually reflect on their practice and to upgrade their knowledge and skills.

  • display a genuine interest in students and seek to establish respectful, individual relationships with them and to contribute to their welfare.

  • believe every child can learn and are committed to helping that to happen.

  • are willing to use information technology as a tool to plan and collaborate with colleagues and to facilitate learning.
  • are prepared to involve parents as partners in the learning of their children.

  • are seeking to become fully involved in the College Community by making a contribution beyond their classroom.

  • willingly support the Christian ethos of the College.

New graduates are just as welcome as experienced professionals because intelligence, warmth, passion and commitment do not depend on experience.

We are keen to support our teachers to be the best they can be. The Enterprise Bargaining Agreement provides the basis for generous and flexible DOTT and leave arrangements. Professional learning is well supported with opportunities for collegial support and sharing within the school, as well as for attendance at outside professional development activities. This includes support for staff to become involved in the innovative MEd programme run through Murdoch University's Rockingham campus.

We believe that leadership is the responsibility of every staff member at the College, whatever their role, and both inside and outside of the classroom. It is characterised by a team approach to open and transparent decision making about long term and short term goals. Staff members are encouraged to put their ideas forward and to think creatively about the school and how to achieve the best outcomes for our students.

Collegial support is encouraged and facilitated through the Staff Association. Morning teas, lunches, Friday afternoon socialising and other social events are all part of helping staff to feel they are part of a team that is working together to create a positive work environment for us all.
